Mashpee is close to the bottom of a list of nearby towns when it comes to the amount of municipal trash diverted from the waste stream by recycling, according to recent statistics provided by a collection of municipalities and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. A look at the five town municipal trash disposal operations on the western Cape shows a system unique to each town, each with their own benefits and disadvantages.
