After a second discussion about allowing recreational marijuana to be sold commercially within Sandwich boundaries, selectmen voted 4-1 Thursday night, March 9, to put the question before residents at Town Meeting in May. "It's the retail sales I'm concerned with, not the use of recreational marijuana," said Selectman Frank Pannorfi, explaining why he wants to put an "opt out" question on the town warrant-and on the ballot. Selectman R. Patrick Ellis, the sole vote against taking the matter to the voters, did not comment on his vote, but said at a previous meeting that Massachusetts voters had approved recreational marijuana and the town should go along with that sentiment.
