Hundreds of people turned out on a cold night to pay last respects to selectman and lifelong Sandwich resident Peter Beauchemin, a man who served the town he loved and lit the sky above it. Men and women in uniform, town officials, and people wearing their Sunday clothes beneath winter coats filed past the closed, flag-draped coffin of Mr. Beauchemin.
