Suzuki violin teacher Carol Sykes retires this year after 44 years as director of the Young People's String Consort. The younger students, impeccably dressed in black and white for their spring concert, sat perfectly still with their violins tucked under their chairs as the older students practiced before the June 24 performance of the Young People's String Consort in Falmouth.
